Gosh, the end of 2013 is just about a month away! I am off this week and hope you are too. The best part of being full time freelance and 100% work from home is taking time off whenever I want and for as long as I want and wherever I want, with whoever I want! Some will argue that its not paid leave but if you have earned enough through the year then that should not matter at all. I am thankful for this being a great year professionally - lots of writing assignments, copy editing projects, press trips, new website and book writing coming along nicely. Next year is looking even more promising. Excited to have close friends drive over to celebrate the holidays with us and thankful for friends hosting parties over the holiday weekend for us folks who really cant go home to celebrate with family this holiday season. I hope you celebrate well with near and dear! Happy Thanksgiving!
I love what I do - editing, proofreading, writing...and I love it even more when my clients are happy with the work I do for them. I had someone contact me to edit a book a few weeks ago. Then nothing. Then they came back and I agreed to work on it. Two weeks later, and my editing skills added to it, they were not only happy with the work, but paid me more than was agreed upon because they were really happy with my work, and now want to work with me on all their projects in the future. They were prompt with their payment, and they even gave me a shout out on social media. Its amazing word-of-mouth advertising for me. When you love what you do, and you do it well, not fabulously but just honestly and to the best of your abilities, then a moment like this can propel you for a few days. A high like this gives you motivation to go on and do what you love even more. My day have been awesome because my client liked my work and was kind enough to say good things to me and others about it. On that high note, I wish a lovely day for you as well.
I attended a group meeting recently where the speaker talked about how we could build a plan for success in just 3 days. Of course, that got my attention. The steps were simple - define an objective, establish a timeline and devise a strategy. Look at what steps can be taken immediately, and what can be done in a few days. Put realistic deadlines against each step towards your goal and enlist the help of a mentor or an accountability partner that will keep you going after your big plans. I've already begun, maybe you'd like to join me?
